Understanding Special Education: A Learning Series for Parents

The Children’s Center Consumer Council is offering a 6-week learning series to help parents and caregivers understand the rights of children and the responsibilities of parents, professionals and educators involved in special education. Parents will learn about the laws related to special education, Individualized Education Plan Process (IEP), how to request services and how and when to advocate for their children. We are offering morning and evening sessions. Participants must register and attend one of the two sessions. Please note the same information will be provided at the morning and evening sessions.

• Upon completion, participants earn a certificate and are eligible for a prize

• Light refreshments provided

• Child care and interpreter services available upon request
