Char’ly Snow, CNM wins 2018 Kitty Ernst Award from American College of Nurse-Midwives
Char’ly Snow, CNM, Certified Nurse Midwife at Henry Ford Health System and WIN Network: Detroit has been awarded the Kitty Ernst Award from the American College of Nurse-Midwives. This award is given to one midwife each year who has been certified for less than ten years, and has demonstrated innovative, creative endeavors in midwifery and/or women’s health clinical practice, education, administration, or research.
Char’ly is not only a full-time CNM at Henry Ford Health System, she is the founder of Metro Detroit Midwives of Color. Metro Detroit Midwives of Color is a non-profit professional organization, inclusive of all minority midwives that serve women in the Metro Detroit area. Their purpose is to establish a professional and social network that increases access to resources that will enhance the care of women in urban communities. They will enlighten and empower the community through community-based programs that address topics pertinent to the population served. Their initiatives will improve the racial diversity within the midwifery community by offering mentorship and support to aspiring midwives of color. Ultimately all of their efforts will serve to reduce the prevalence of health disparities among ethnic minorities.
We are so proud to have Char’ly on our WIN Network: Detroit team, and know she has impacted so many of our moms’ and babies’ lives in a positive way. The future is clearly bright for you, Char’ly!
